Working in a busy salon can make it challenging to find time to eat properly, which can lead to poor food choices and overeating later… I’ve been there!
Here are some tips to help you eat right at work:
1. Pack your own meals and snacks
Instead of relying on grabbing quick, unhealthy options, pack your own meals and snacks. This gives you control over what you eat and ensures you have healthy options readily available when you get hungry.
2. Choose satisfying finger-friendly foods
Opting for foods that are easy to eat on the go and will keep you feeling full for longer. Examples include veggie sticks with hummus, fruit slices, smoothies, and unsalted nuts. These foods are high in fiber and nutrients, which can help keep your energy levels up and prevent overeating.
3. Focus on high-volume, low-calorie foods
Choose foods that are filling but not calorie-dense, so you can stay satisfied without consuming excessive calories. High volume, low-calorie foods include vegetables, fruits, and nuts. These foods can help prevent hunger pangs and reduce the temptation to reach for unhealthy snacks.
4. Keep snacks close to your workstation
Leave your healthy snacks near your workstation so that they are easily accessible when you have a break between clients. This can help prevent mindless snacking on unhealthy options and keep you on track with your healthy eating goals.
5. Stay hydrated
Remember to drink enough water throughout the day to stay hydrated. Dehydration can sometimes be mistaken for hunger, leading to unnecessary snacking. Keep a water bottle with you at work and sip on it regularly to stay hydrated.
Eating right at work is crucial for maintaining your health and preventing overeating. By packing your own meals and snacks, choosing healthy options, and staying hydrated, you can fuel your body properly and stay on track with your nutrition goals, even in a busy salon.
